Han Kang Wins the Nobel Prize

Han Kang Wins the Nobel Prize

I woke up today to the thrilling news that Han Kang has won the Nobel Prize for Literature! As a long-time fan, this feels like a personal victory. Her work, especially “The Vegetarian”, which I read back in 2016, left a deep impression on me. The rawness and surreal intensity of Yeong-hye’s story, her decision to stop eating meat, and the way it disrupted her life and relationships, were unforgettable. Han Kang’s writing had a quiet but powerful way of stirring deep emotions.

I still remember sharing “The Vegetarian” with a close friend, recounting the story in such detail that I nearly choked up—it was that moving. Han Kang’s exploration of personal freedom and societal pressure stayed with me long after I finished the book, and I found myself recommending it to anyone who would listen.

Seeing her recognized with the Nobel Prize feels so right, like the world is finally acknowledging the emotional depth and brilliance her fans have always known. I’m planning to read “Greek Lessons” and “Human Acts” soon, and I have no doubt they will be just as impactful.

If you haven’t picked up “The Vegetarian” yet, now is the perfect time to experience the extraordinary power of Han Kang’s writing.
